Studio Visit: Rebecca Poarch
We had to recent pleasure of taking a digital visit to the historic and idyllic studio of Rebecca Poarch in Flower Hill, NY. Her studio exists in one of the oldest homes in the area, known as the Hewlett-Munson-Williams House, dating back to 1675.
In this spirited space, peaceful energies from the surrounding nature preserve and the generations of previous occupants harmonize with the curious and bright presence of Rebecca and her work . Her paintings and sculptures seem to offer a caress from the ethereal plane, a place where you’re warmly welcomed into a void of soft, slow unknown, grounded in hints of familiar terrestrial shapes and pigments.
Her studio extends beyond its walls as Rebecca regularly collects objects and pigments from nature to provide inspiration and materials for her art practice. She prioritizes staying connected to the natural world and through her most recent project, Floribunda, explores how to continue blending the line between outside and inside, both physically and philosophically.
