Jenna Ransom “Ever New”

Ever New references new beginnings, transformations, rebirth, and renewed visions. In making this work, Ransom was inspired by the song of the same name by Beverly Glenn-Copeland, from his 1986 album Keyboard Fantasies.

Comprised of forms that allude to flowers, landscapes, glyphs and creatures, Ransom’s semi-monochromatic works project a serene yet powerful psychological space that the artist cultivates with care. Siting a goal to uncover new shapes and make visual that which is more typically felt, Ransom carefully resolves each work to allow for an openness of meaning and a multitude of associations.

Ransom’s work is timely — visionary imagery from Hilma af Klint and Agnes Pelton have captured our 21st century imaginations. Ransom’s practice comes from a similar insistence on the importance of the feeling; the implicit true-ness of a certain kind of painting.
